Bryant furnace repair in Torrance typically runs $150 – $700, and most jobs are completed the same day we diagnose them, provided the part is on the truck or available locally. We’re an independent Bryant service provider, not a factory-authorized dealer, but we carry the parts, tools, and warranty-safe repair practices that keep your system running without voiding coverage. If you own a Bryant furnace in Torrance and it’s acting up, this page covers what actually goes wrong, what it costs, and how we fix it. Call (424) 358-3791 for a free estimate.
How Bryant Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Evolution Series: pressure switch trips on windy Torrance days. The Evolution 90 and Evolution 96 use a combustion air intake that’s sensitive to the gusty marine winds rolling through South Torrance and Walteria. When gusts pressurize the flue, the pressure switch trips, the unit locks out, and the house goes cold. We check the intake for debris, verify the pressure switch hose isn’t cracked, and test the inducer motor. Sometimes the fix is a $60 switch; sometimes the intake needs rerouting. We’ll tell you which one before we touch anything.
- Legacy Line: hot surface ignitor failure. The Legacy 80 and Legacy 90 furnaces run a silicon nitride ignitor that gets brittle with age. On a 10-year-old furnace, it’s not a matter of if it cracks, it’s when. The symptom is a furnace that tries to start, clicks, then shuts down without producing heat. We replace the ignitor with an OEM part and verify the flame sensor while we’re in there, because a dirty flame sensor on a Legacy is the next most common no-heat cause.
- Preferred 90 Series: heat exchanger corrosion from coastal air. This is specific to homes within a mile or so of the coast. The Preferred 90 uses a secondary heat exchanger made of stainless steel, but salt-laden air accelerates corrosion on the primary exchanger. You’ll see rust flakes around the burner area, a flickering yellow flame instead of a steady blue one, or a musty odor when the blower kicks on. If the exchanger is cracking, we’ll show you photos and talk replacement before repair, because patching a cracked exchanger is not something we’ll do and not something anyone should.
- Evolution Series: blower motor module failure. The ECM blower motor in Evolution furnaces is efficient, but the control module on the back of the motor is a known failure point around the 8-12 year mark. The furnace won’t move air even though the burners ignite, and it frequently throws a 31 or 42 error code. You can replace the module without replacing the entire motor, which saves $400-$600 compared to a full motor swap. We carry both.
- All Bryant condensing furnaces: clogged condensate trap. Bryant’s 90%+ AFUE furnaces pull moisture out of the exhaust gas and drain it through a plastic trap near the bottom of the cabinet. In Torrance, that trap attracts dust and algae over a season, and when it clogs, the furnace shuts down on a pressure switch or limit error. We flush the trap, check the drain line for blockages, and clear the pressure switch port. This is a $120-$180 fix that a lot of companies turn into a $500 upsell. We won’t.

Our Bryant Furnace Repair Process
- 1
You book online and get a live arrival time. No four-hour window. You see exactly who’s coming, when they’ll be there, and you can track the van to your door.
- 2
We diagnose before we quote. The technician checks the error codes, tests the ignitor, flame sensor, pressure switch, gas valve, and heat exchanger. We don’t guess and we don’t load the truck hoping to upsell you on whatever’s in the back.
- 3
You get a written price. Before any work starts, you’ll see exactly what the repair costs. Not an estimate with fine print. A written price for the exact repair we’re doing.
- 4
We explain the parts decision. For most Bryant furnaces, OEM parts make sense because they carry their own warranty and fit perfectly. For some older Legacy units, a quality aftermarket ignitor or flame sensor is perfectly fine and costs less. We’ll show you both options and let you choose.
- 5
We do the repair and test it. After the part goes in, we run a full cycle: ignition, flame signal, temperature rise, voltage draw, and safety switch operation. We check the carbon monoxide reading on the flue. We don’t leave until the furnace is running the way it should.
- 6
You get the written guarantee. Every Bryant repair we do includes the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails within the year, we come back at no charge. No arguing, no fine print.

Why Torrance Homeowners Call Halden Heating and Air Torrance for Bryant Work
Andre Fuller grew up in Los Angeles and spent years getting to know the South Bay by doing the work, from tune-ups in Torrance’s Old Town district to full system replacements in some of the area’s older ranch-style homes. He learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, where hands-on hours in the HVAC program taught him that a diagnosis should be honest before it’s anything else. That’s the standard we hold for every Bryant furnace we touch. We put the price in writing before a panel comes off, we show you what’s actually wrong in photos, and we back every repair with a written guarantee. If it fails, the return visit is free. We also service Carrier, Trane, and Lennox, so if a multi-brand system or an older unit needs attention, one crew handles it all. Book online, get a live arrival time, and track your tech to the door. That’s how it works, every time.
FAQs
No, the factory warranty remains intact as long as the repair is done with OEM or manufacturer-equivalent parts and the work is performed by a licensed HVAC contractor. We follow Bryant’s warranty-safe practices and document every repair, so if you ever need to make a claim, you have the records.
Same-day service is available for most calls in Torrance. When your Bryant furnace won’t light, call (424) 358-3791 and we’ll give you a live arrival time, not a window. In winter, a no-heat Bryant is our top priority.
If the repair is under $400 and the heat exchanger is sound, yes, it’s worth fixing. If the heat exchanger is cracked or you’re looking at a $700 gas valve on a 18-year-old furnace, replacement starts to make more sense. We’ll show you both paths with real numbers and let you decide.
We keep the most common Bryant parts on the truck: ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches, and drain components. Less common parts like gas valves and blower modules are usually available from local South Bay suppliers the same day. If something has to ship, we’ll tell you exactly when it arrives and when we’ll be back to install it.
Repair if the unit is under 12 years old and the repair cost is less than half the price of a new system. Replace if the heat exchanger is compromised, the unit is 18+ years old, or you’re facing a $600+ repair on a system that’s already struggling through every Torrance winter. We’ll give you a written repair price and a written replacement price, and you choose with full information. Call (424) 358-3791 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
