We install Goodman mini-split systems throughout Torrance, and a complete single-zone installation with all parts and labor typically runs between $3,500 and $7,500 depending on the BTU size, line-set length, and electrical work involved. We carry a full stock of Goodman-compatible mounting brackets, line sets, drain kits, and electrical disconnects on our trucks, so most installations are scheduled and completed within a few days, not weeks. What usually brings a Torrance homeowner to this page is a system that never cooled right from day one, a compressor that’s short-cycling, or a wall unit that drips water down the drywall because the drain wasn’t pitched correctly. If your Goodman unit is installed and underperforming, the issue is rarely the equipment itself, it’s almost always the installation details that got skipped.
Which Goodman Models This Applies To
Our installation crews work on the full Goodman mini-split lineup: the GSX series, the ComfortBridge GSZC, and the older GPH and GPC wall-mounted units that are still running in plenty of South Bay homes. The most common compatibility snag we see in Torrance is when someone buys a condenser online, then discovers the wall unit they picked up secondhand uses a different refrigerant type. Goodman shifted from R-410A to R-32 on newer models, and those line sets and flare fittings are not interchangeable. If you’re unsure what you have, check the data plate on the side of the condenser, it lists the model and refrigerant type in plain print. For parts like line sets and drain hoses, we use OEM Goodman components when the warranty is still active, and high-quality aftermarket equivalents only when the factory part is discontinued or backordered for weeks. Our technician will tell you which one applies to your serial number before any work begins.

Signs Your Goodman Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- Water stains below the wall unit. The drain line wasn’t pitched downhill or the condensate pump (the little pump that pushes water out when gravity can’t) has failed. In Torrance’s humid coastal air, this shows up within a season or two if the original install was sloppy.
- Ice forming on the copper line set. That’s low refrigerant, usually from a flare fitting that was over-tightened or under-tightened during the initial hookup. It’s a slow leak, so the system cools fine at first, then gradually loses capacity.
- Compressor short-cycling (turning on and off every few minutes). Often a mismatched wall unit and condenser pairing, or an undersized electrical disconnect that trips under load. Goodman units are durable, but they can’t overcome bad wiring.
- Rattling from the outdoor unit. The mounting pad wasn’t leveled, or the anti-vibration feet were never installed. We’ve fixed more than a few Goodman condensers in Torrance that were just sitting on bare dirt.
- The remote says it’s running, but the room never reaches set temperature. Someone installed a unit that’s too small for the square footage, or the wall unit is positioned where the thermostat sensor reads the wrong part of the room. Our team sees this in older Torrance ranch homes with open floor plans.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a typical single-zone Goodman mini-split installation in Torrance, expect $3,500 to $7,500 installed. The main drivers are BTU capacity (9,000 BTU units cost less than 24,000 BTU), the length of the line set between the indoor and outdoor units, whether your electrical panel has spare capacity or needs a new breaker, and whether the wall requires a mounting plate on stucco, which takes extra anchors and time. Every quote from Halden Heating and Air Torrance includes the equipment, line set, drain kit, electrical disconnect, mounting hardware, refrigerant charge, and labor, all in one written price before we start. There’s no hour-by-hour meter running. Most Goodman condenser units carry a 10-year parts warranty from the manufacturer when registered, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation workmanship itself. If something isn’t done right in the first year, we make it right, in writing, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself. Confirm the breaker for the mini-split isn’t tripped, make sure the air filter behind the front panel of the wall unit isn’t clogged with Torrance dust, and verify the outdoor unit isn’t blocked by overgrown bougainvillea or stacked patio furniture. Beyond that, I’d stop. Mini-split installation involves high-voltage wiring at the disconnect, refrigerant under pressure, and flare fittings that leak if the torque isn’t exactly right. That’s not a weekend project, and a bad flare means a slow refrigerant leak you won’t notice until the unit stops cooling on the hottest day of August. If your Goodman system wasn’t installed correctly the first time, call (424) 358-3791 and we’ll inspect what’s there, tell you what’s wrong in plain English, and put the fix in writing before we touch a tool. As Andre Fuller says around the shop: tell me what the system is doing, and I’ll tell you exactly what it needs, in writing, before we start.
FAQs
Most single-zone installations in Torrance take one full day. A multi-zone system with two or three wall units typically takes two days. We give you a set arrival time and a live tracking link, so you know exactly when the crew shows up, not a four-hour window. Call (424) 358-3791 if you need a more specific timeline for your setup.
Yes, and often that’s the smarter move. If the condenser and wall unit are still functional, we can replace a failed line set, fix a bad flare fitting, re-pitch a clogged drain, or add a condensate pump without a full reinstall. A repair inspection typically runs $150 to $650 depending on what we find, and we’ll show you the written price before starting.
We stock the most common Goodman mini-split components on our trucks: mounting plates, line sets in several lengths, drain hoses, condensate pumps, electrical disconnects, and flare kits. For less common parts, like a specific control board for an older Goodman model, we order directly from our supplier and usually have it in Torrance within two to three business days. We also carry parts for Carrier, Trane, and Lennox if you have mixed-brand equipment in the house.
The equipment itself typically runs 12 to 15 years, but the coastal air here shortens the life of mounting hardware and line set insulation faster than inland. A properly installed unit with clean flares, a pitched drain, and a sealed line set penetration will last years longer than one that was rushed. We’ve replaced installations in Torrance that were less than five years old because the original contractor skipped the basics.
